A young (and androgynous) Saint John on the island of Patmos, painted some time after 1945 by Heinrich Bickel.
John, one of Jesus’s Apostles, was allegedly banished by the Roman authorities to the Greek island of Patmos, where, according to legend, he wrote the Book of Revelation.
