At Loisachstraße 34, Haus “zum Schnegg,” snails are incorporated into the window surrounds and the frame of the lüftlmalerei paintings.

The word “Schnegg” means “snail” in the Bavarian dialect.

Facing the street, a lüftlmalerei of Saint Rosina by Heinrich Bickel.

We know this is Saint Rosina by the banner on the painting.  However, next to nothing is known about the Saint.

The Rosina Chapel in Wenglingen, Bavaria, is the only place (quite possibly in the entire world) where Saint Rosina is worshipped, let alone known.  Wenglingen is a tiny village about 100 kilometers from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, with a population of less than 50 people.  Originally built in 1679 and last renovated from 1900-1965, according to the sign on the outside of the chapel, “For a visit, please contact the family Boch, house no. 7 opposite”.

Around the corner and above the balcony, a completely separate lüftlmalerei of soldiers and the embodiment of death.

At Loisachstraße 36, a lüftlmalerei about Holztriften originally by Isidor Winterholler in 1954, restored in 2004 by Otto Ertl.

In the center, an image of Mary holding an infant Jesus here, inspired by the painting Maria Hilf (Mary of Succor) by Lucas Cranach the Elder from around 1530, which is displayed above the main altar in the Saint James Cathedral in Innsbruck.

At Loisachstraße 50, a lüftlmalerei of Saint Christopher originally painted in 1967.
