Fichtackerstraße 23, artist Christa Burges’s former home.

On the wall beside the front door, an image of Saint Christopher she painted in 1971.

As Burges, herself, wrote, “after 10 weeks of construction and a lot of sweat – the first snow of my own (Dec. 1970). 2nd winter 1971/72. After one year, this modest hut has become a beautiful cottage.  St. Christopher adorns the front, the bike has a stable, now a beech tree and a small black pine grow next to the larch, and a fence surrounds the property at Fichtacker 23.”1

The trees are gone now, but the lüftlmalerei she painted remains.

Mai (Eltern Hochzeitstag, der 51.) stand „es” in der Garmischer Zeitung und dann … der Heilige Franz, ein bissel Geld….  …die grosse Weise.  nach 10 Wochen Bauzeit und viel Schweiss — der erste „eigene” Schnee. (Dez. 1970). 2. Winter 1971/72 nach einem Jahr ist aus der bescheideneu Hütte ist schmuckes Häuscheu geworden.  “Sankt Christoph” ziert die Vorderseite-front, der Drahtesel hat einen Stall, jetzt wachseu neben der Lärche eine Blutbuche und eine kleine Schwarzkeifer, und ein Zaun umgrenzt das Anwesen am Fichtacker 23."
